Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor foi eleito o jogo do ano no Game Developers Choice Awards 2015 (GDC Awards 2015), a premiação da comunidade de desenvolvedores na Game Developers Conference (GDC).
O título mobile Monument Valley foi o mais premiado, ganhando nas categorias inovação, arte visual e melhor jogo mobile. A premiação também prestou homenagens a Brenda Romero, esposa de John Romero (um dos criadores de Doom), que ganhou o Ambassador Award, pelos esforços na indústria de jogos.
Já o Lifetime Achievement, que premia um desenvolvedor por sua carreira, foi entregue a Hironobu Sakaguchi, o pai de Final Fantasy.
